3856.  WALDEN, G.H., PIERCE, J.A., AND SEGURA, M.A. (Standard Oil Development Co.). Preparation and Regeneration of a Hydrocarbon Synthesis Catalyst. United States Patent 2,488,150, Nov. 15, 1949; appl. filed Nov. 8, 1946, Serial No. 708,630; 6 claims (Cl. 260-449.6). Chem. Abs., vol. 44, 1950, p. 1673.

Catalyst particularly suitable for use un hydrocarbon synthesis process is prepared by mixing finely powdered Al2O3 with Fe powder. The mixture is impregnated with a solution of K carbonate so as to obtain 3% alumina and 1% K2CO3 on the Fe. The mixture is passed through the flame of an O2 torch and sintered. The powder is separated from the combustion gases and cooled. Effective flame temperature is 2,500° -3,500° F. If spheres are desired, the flame temperature must be above the fusion point of the fusible powder used. 2 foreign patents and 12 United States patents cited.
