C-coated catalysts are regenerated in a regeneration chamber which is continuous with the reaction chamber. The catalyst is in a suspended state in both chambers an circulates from one chamber to the other. The catalyst is kept suspended by a boiling gas stream. The temperature in the regenerating chamber is kept at a higher point than that in the reaction chamber.
