3844. ----- [VOORHIES, A.] (Standard Oil Development Co.). Hydrocarbon Synthesis. United States Patent 2,533,072, Dec. 5, 1950; appl. filed June 5, 1947, Serial No. 752,801; 4 claims (Cl. 260-449.6).

Catalyst carbonized in the Fischer-Tropsch synthesis is with drawn from the reactor at synthesis temperature 550°-750° F. and decarbonized with H2 at a higher decarbonization stage, 900°-1,200°. The additional heat is supplied by addition of CO to the decarbonization stage. The CO comes from synthesis feed gas added to the H2 in suitable proportion. In general, about 10-50 n cu. ft. of H2 and 1-5 n cu. ft. of CO are required to remove 0.05-0.20 lb. C per lb. catalyst. 6 United States patents cited.
