Gaseous hydrocarbons of the CH4, ethylene, or acetylene series are heated without increased pressure to 2,000°, at which temperature a reaction takes place producing a condensable gas, which on cooling, condenses to a volatile liquid consisting in the main of hydrocarbons, like benzine, and belonging to the CH4 and ethylene series.
