PATENT

3816. ----- [VERGASUNGS INDUSTRIE, A. G.]  [Gas From Bituminous Lumpy Fuels.]  German Patent 742,272, Nov. 26, 1943; appl. filed May 15, 1940 (Cl. 24 e-1.07).  TOM Reel 36, bag 3,541, item 8;  Oel Kohle Erdoel Teer, Schriftumschau, vol. 40, no. 13/14, Apr. 1, 1944, p. 53; Chem. Abs., vol. 40, 1946, p. 2961.

In producing a synthesis gas from bituminous, lump fuel by means of O2 or enriched air, the out gas produced is reintroduced into the gasification chamber of the gas producer as cycle gas through several points in the circumference at which O2 is admitted.  The 2 gases meet each other close to the fuel bed, and the resulting combination raises the temperature of the cycle gas and efficiently cracks the hydrocarbons contained therein, at the same time effecting a rapid heating of the fuel bed and preventing undesired premature ignition.  The process assures a uniform gas composition, complete gasification of the fuel, and a high gas yield.
