3809. -----[ VEREINIGTE OELFABRIKEN HUBBE & FARENHOLTZ .] [Process and Apparatus for Producing Fatty Acids From Aliphatic Hydrocarbons.] German Patent Appl. V 36,427, PA 30,508; filed Jan. 15, 1940. FIAT Reel B-196, frames 147-155; pb 83,253.

In the process for producing fatty acids by oxidation of high-molecular aliphatic hydrocarbons and the like, the condensable portions of the liquor arising from the oxidation are precipitated in the apparatus following the oxidation vessel with hydrocarbons, organic solvent agents, of H2O. The liquids, which serve for the precipitation of the condensable portions of the liquor in the adjoining vessel, are kept at a lower temperature than the raw material awaiting oxidation in the previous oxidation apparatus. Example: 144kg. of paraffin gatsch was blown with air at 125° in a vessel containing 6% of catalyst, consisting of 2 parts of Mn stearate and 1 part of steric acid. After 12 hr., 50% of the charge was oxidized and after a further 9 hr., 91%. The yield from the oxidation was 105%. Addition to German Patent Appl. H 145,334.
