PATENT

3805. -----. [VEREINIGTE OELFABRIKEN HUBBE & FARENHOLTZ.] [Fatty Acids From Aliphatic Hydrocarbons.] German Patent 742,054, Oct. 7, 1943 (Cl. 12 o-11). Chem. Abs., vol. 40, 1946, p. 899.

Fatty acids are produced by oxidizing high-molecular, aliphatic hydrocarbons. Oxidation is brought about by intimate mixing of an O2-containing gas with the hydrocarbons at a temperature above their m.p., preferably 100° -170° . The mixing of the reactants is achieved with a rapidly revolving stirrer, such as a slotted, perforated, or comblike paddle.
