3781.  UNITED ENGINEERS & CONSTRUCTORS INC.  Synthesis of Gas Rich in Hydrogen and Carbon Monoxide.  British Patent 685,359, Dec. 31, 1952.  Chem. Abs., vol. 47,1953, p. 6636.

Gases rich in H2 and oxides of C are made in a cyclic, catalytic process utilizing steam and hydrocarbons.  First fuel is burned and the hot products of combustion are passed through 2 successive heat-storage beds, admixed with steam, part of which may have been passed through the first heat-storage zone, and the mixture is converted in the catalyst zone to gas rich in H2 and CO.
