3750.  TOMPKINS, L. G. R. (Standard Oil Development Co.). [Removing Oxygenated Organic Compounds From Hydrocarbon Mixtures.] French Patent 969,444, Dec. 20, 1950; appl., July 21, 1948. Chem. Zentralb., 1951, I, p. 2109.

The fractionated mixture, b. 38°-204°, is contacted in vapor form with a H2O-free melt of 80% NaOH and 20% Na2CO3 at temperature > 318°, The oxygenated compounds are thus fixed. Distillation gives a hydrocarbon mixture rich in alpha olefins and especially suitable for catalytic conversion.
