3741. -----. [TEXACO DEVELOPMENT CORP.].  Separation Of Water-Soluble Organic Compounds From The Carbon Monoxide-Hydrogen Reaction.  British Patent 646,925, Nov. 29, 1950.  Chem. Abs., vol. 45, 1951, p. 6826.

Aqueous mixture from CO and H2 synthesis containing compounds with O2 are extracted with liquid aliphatic hydrocarbons at 175°-300° F. and 100-300 p.s.i.  The hydrocarbon phase may then be treated with aqueous NaHSO3 to recover the aldehydes and ketones and then with a secondary solvent, such as (CH2OH)2, to recover the alcohols.
