Reduced Co or Ni oxide catalyst can be reactivated after use in reaction of ammonia with olefins at 450° -750° F. and 500-3,000 p.s.i. with H2 at 450° -750° F. and 1,000-3,000 p.s.i. The N-containing tarry deposit is converted to volatilized hydrocarbons and ammonia. The catalyst can be purged of H2 by passing ammonia over it. 12 United States patents cited.
