Compounds, such as alcohols, are obtained ny interaction of olefins of >2 C(C3H6 or C4H8) with H2 and CO 100°-200° and 75 atm. in liquid phase (in an alcohol, or a paraffin of 12-16 C), in presence of a dissolved Co salt followed by treatment of the effluent with H2 (under similar conditions) to precipitate metallic Co, which is recovered.
