PATENT

3727. ----- [SZIGETH, G ]  [Water Gas for Technical Synthesis.].  Italian Patent 878,638, N. 15, 1939; in Hungary, Dec. 10, 1938.  Chem. Zentralb., 1942, I, p. 2730.

Water gas, which is practically free from CH4 and poor in CO2, is obtained by gasifying liquid fuels, such as mineral oils, their distillation residues, or bitumen, with an amount of steam only slightly exceeding that required for the water-gas reaction at pressures > 10 atm., preferably at 15-20, and temperatures > 1,100°, preferably 1,200°-1,300°.  The reaction temperature is attained by burning a part of the liquid fuel with O2 in the reaction chamber.
