2:1:1 mol. mixture of Zn(NO₃)₂ is precipitated with NaOH, filtered, dried, mixed with 1.5 mol. aqueous K₃[Cr(C₂O₄)₃] 3H₂O, heated at 100°, and then slowly heated to 400°. The catalyst is used for synthesis of iso-BuOH from CO and H2.
