PATENT

3696. ----- [STUDIEN-UND VERWERTUNGS-G. M. B. H.] Removing Sulfur From Gases.] French Patent 797,902, May 6, 1936, p. 7315.

In the catalytic removal of organic S from gases containing CO and H2 in 2 steps with intermediate removal of H2S resulting from he 1st step, the transformation is carried out at <300° by means of particularly efficaceous catalysts in the 2d step, while less efficacious catalysts are used at a higher temperature in the 1st sep. Thus, a mixture of an alkali metal carbonate and oxides or hydroxides of Fe are used in the 2d step, and the used catalyst from the 2d step may be then used in the 1st.
