3662 ----- [STUDIEN-UND VERWERTUNGS-G. M. B. H.]  Catalytic Apparatus.  British Patent 451,177, July 29, 1936, B, p. 964; Chem. Abs., vol. 31, 1937, p. 294.

Cross tubes for temperature adjusting medium are made with such cross section and placed in such positions that the distance between any tube and the nearest point of its neighbor is approximately constant at all points, and free flow of the catalyst downwards is permitted for continuous renewal.  In the reduction of CO to produce hydrocarbons above C2, all the particles of catalyst are < 10mm. distant from the wall of an oil-containing tube and the tubes are oval (long axis vertical) with ends left round and expanded into tube sheets.
