3657. STOWENER, F., KEUNECKE, E., AND NECKE, F. [Catalytic Reactions With Carbonaceous Materials.]  German Patent Appl. --, filed Apr. 17, 1941; APC 389,039.

Silica gel, obtained by allowing a homogeneous sol (pH 3-4.5) to solidify, washing until a pH 3-5 is reached and drying at 200°-300° C. diameter, is saturated with H2O vapor and impregnated with Al(NO3)3 solution, Co(NO3)2 solution and K2CO3 solution.  A gas mixture consisting of CO and H2 (1:2) is passed at 194° C. and at a velocity of 1.3 l. per gm. Co per hr. over the mass whereby liquid and solid hydrocarbons are obtained in a yield of 100gm. per m.3 of initial gas.
