Gas mixture is prepared by heating a coke-oven gas with steam at 1,200°-1,500° without a catalysts, or at 800°-900° in the presence of a Ni or Fe catalyst, and mixing the gas thus produced with blue water gas in such proportion as to produce a gas mixture containing CO and H2 in a proportion suitable for use in the Fischer-Tropsch process.
