Fe catalysts for the synthesis of hydrocarbons by reduction of CO with H₂ are made precipitating the Fe with solid oxides, hydroxides, or carbonates of Mg, Ca, Sr, and Ba and by subsequent precipitation of the earth alkali going into solution using Na₂CO₃ and activating with alkali.
