3532. ----- [STANDARD OIL CO.]  Preparation of Catalysts.  British Patent 657,224, Feb. 21, 1949.  British Abs., B, I, 1952, p. 38.

Fluidizable sintered Fe catalyst, resistant to fouling and disintegration, and for use in the synthesis of hydrocarbons from CO and H2 is prepared by impregnating red Fe oxide powder with alkali-metal salt promoter, for example, K2CO3 0.5-5 wt. % reducing in pill form at 485°-595° with H2 (750-1,500 atm.) then breaking the pills into granules of < 40-mesh, and sintering the latter at 680°-905° in nonoxidizing gas, for example, H2 (100-200 vol. per vol. of catalyst per hr.).
