3523. ----- [STANDARD OIL CO.]  Mixtures ofCarbon Monoxide and Hydrogen.  British Patent 634,933, Mar. 29, 1950; appl. filed Apr. 21, 1947.  Chem. Abs., vol. 44, 1950, p. 6605.

Reaction of gaseous hydrocarbons with Fe oxides to produce mixtures of CO and H2 suitable for Fischer-Tropsch synthesis progresses more smoothly with high selectivity for H2 and CO and minimum production of C in the presence of free Fe.  Maximum atomic ratio of O to free Fe should be 6, and approximate atomic ratio of O to total Fe is specified to be 0.5-1.25.  Describes process employing the technique of fluidized solids.
