3516. ----- [STANDARD OIL CO.] Improvements in or Relating to Hydrocarbon Synthesis. British Patent 652,477, Apr. 15, 1951. Chem. Abs., vol. 45, 1951, p. 9837.

The economics of the catalytic synthesis of hydrocarbons and oxygenated products from CO and H2 are improved by better utilization of synthesis tail gas. This tail gas from a 1st synthesis stage, after suitable CO2 removal, is converted by use of free O2 in a secondary gas generator to produce a secondary synthesis gas, which is converted to synthesis products. Tail gas from the 2d synthesis stage is converted into synthesis gas and processed in a 3d synthesis stage.
