PATENT

3492. ----- [STANDARD OIL CO.]  Fuels.  British Patent 631,319, Nov. 1, 1949.  Chem. Abs., vol. 44, 1950, p. 3700.

In the production of liquid and gaseous fuels by the conversion of carbonaceous materials into a gaseous mixture containing CO and H2 followed by the catalytic treatment of the mixture to produce normally liquid hydrocarbons and a fuel tail gas, the liquid gas product distribution is controlled by recovering the fuel tail gas, and a portion of this gas, in excess of the desired requirement for fuel gas, is recycled to the reaction for production of the CO-H2 mixture from carbonaceous material.  The proportion of tail gas thus recycled may be altered from time to time in accordance with changing fuel requirements.
