Production of HOAc from CO and H2 is affected by use of catalysts comprising 1 or more of the materials: Ni, Co, Cr, their oxides and carbonates, and Mn carbonate.  the catalyst may be placed in a Cu-lined tube  through which the gases are passed heated by electrical resistances.
