Catalyst tube for synthesis under high pressure comprises 2 chambers inside a hollow cylinder that are capable of being traversed successively by the gas, both serving as catalyst chambers or 1 preliminary purification chamber.  The chambers may be concentric and may be separated by a heating element such as an electric spiral.
