An apparatus for carrying out fluid, gas, or liquid, catalytic reactions, consisting of a series of catalyst chambers, each equipped with cooling and heating devices to maintain the optimum temperature, is applicable to the formation of CH4 from water gas, the hydrogenation or pyrolysis of C2H2, the decomposition of low-molecular hydrocarbons, and the condensation of phenols to phenyl ethers.
