PATENT

3318. ----- [SEGURA, M. A.]  (Standard Oil Development Co.).  Hydrocarbon Synthesis.  United States Patent 2,552,347, May 8, 1951; appl. filed May 20, 1947, Serial No. 749,335; 5 claims (Cl. 260-449.6).

CO-H2 reaction is carried out using a fluidized catalyst consisting essentially of a major proportion of Fe, about 2-8% by weight of V, and a minor proportion of an alkali metal compound selected from the group consisting of the oxides, carbonates, chlorides, and fluorides of Na and K.  The presence of the V is found to have a C-inhibiting action, which allows a longer life for the catalyst.  10 United States patents, 1 foreign patent, and 1 literature ref. cited.
