Oil of at least 100 viscosity index and low pour point is prepared by heating noncatalytically straight chain normal, a mono-olefin (5-12 C atoms) and styrene to 500°-700° F. from about 10 hr. to about 1 hr., respectively.  The molar proportion of the olefin in the charge is greater than the styrene.  Wax from Fischer-Tropsch synthesis may be used as charge.  2 United States patents cited.
