Copolymers of CO with monoolefins are hydrogenated over Ni, Zn chromite, or Cu chromite catalysts to yield polyhydroxy-containing polymers, which are generally pliable and rubbery,  Solvents used for hydrogenation include dioxane and hydrocarbons.
