PATENT

3301.  SCHOENMAKERS, P. J., AND VAN DE PUTTE, W. L. (N. V. de Bataafsche Petroleum Maatschappij)  [Mixing and Bringing Into Reaction a Gaseous Hydrocarbon and an Oxygen-Containing Gas.]  Netherlands Patent 71,499, Dec. 15, 1952.  Chem. Abs., vol. 47, 1953, p. 7198.

Hydrocarbon gas and an O2-containing gas are mixed in such proportion, that by their reaction a mixture can be formed consisting for the greater part of CO and H2, in a mixing chamber with annular section, to which the gases are supplied in tangentially directed, alternate turbulent streams, while the mixture leaves the chamber through a narrowed annulus and forms eddies in the combustion space that maintain the flame at the end of the annulus.
