3271. ----- [SCHILLER, J. C.]  (Standard Oil Development Co.).  Method for Synthesis of Hydrocarbons and Oxygenated Organic Compounds.  United States Patent 2,525,080, Oct. 10, 1950; appl. filed Dec. 20, 1946, Serial No. 717,579; 9 claims (Cl. 260-449.6)  Chem,. Abs., vol. 45, 1951, p. 1326.

Fe catalyst for use in Fischer-Tropsch synthesis is prepared by mixing Fe oxide and 2-5% by weight of an alkali metal trioxalate ferriate, such as K3Fe(C2O4)3 3H2O in H2O to form a thin slurry,  The mixture is dried at 100° C., pulverized, and pelleted.  The pills are calcined for 4.5 hr. at 1,000° F. and reduced with H2 at 700°-1,600° F.  Reaction temperature is 450°-675° F., pressure 100-500 p. s. i.,H2 CO ratio 2:1-1:1 and feed rates 100-1,500 vol. of feed per vol. catalyst per hr.  4 literature refs., 1 foreign patent, and 3 United States patents cited.
