3261.  SCHEUERMANN, E. I. G. Farbenindustrie A. G.).  [Iron Catalysts.]  German patent Appl. I 68,608, OZ 12,534, filed Jan. 8, 1941(Cl. IV d-12 o)  FIAT Reel 164, frames 3,197-3,202;  PB 25,608; PB75,191; Bureau of Mines Transl. T-433, Jan. 1948; Meyer Transl. PC-S-II, Fischer-Tropsch, vol. 7, ch. 184, 1950, p. 6.

Catalyst composed of Fe, with alkaline compounds, kieselguhr, and MgO in amounts of 10% or more , is used for the production of paraffin at about 5 atm. Details for making the catalyst are presented.  The proportions of the constituents are about as follows, calculated on the Fe in weight %: Cu 10-50, alkali 4-20, MgO 20-60, kieselguhr 25-100.  The conversion of the CO is carried out at temperatures of 220°-250° and pressures of 10-25 atm.  The yield of products b. > 320° is about 50-60% of the total.  They are snow-white paraffins with < 10% of olefins.
