3253. ----- [SCHARMANN, W.G., and BARR, F.T.] (Standard Oil Development Co.).  Producing Motor Fuel.  Canadian Patent 449,868, July 13, 1948; appl. filed Sept. 6, 1945, Serial No. 531,246.  Chem. Abs., vol.42, 1948, p. 7006.

Liquid motor fuel is continuously produced by suspending powdered coal in an acyclic hydrocarbon oil of end b. 700°-800°, subjecting it to a distillation-extraction operation at temperatures of 700°-800°, separating the distillate and coked residue, reacting the latter with steam to produce water gas and recovering therefrom a synthesis gas suitable for the catalytic synthesis of liquid hydrocarbons, then separating the gasoline from the heavier oil, and utilizing the latter in producing the coal suspensions. Corresponds to United States Patent 2,436,938 (abs. 3252).
