3223.  SABLE, F., and KEILIG, F. (I. G. Farbenindustrie a. g.).  [Gas Mixtures.]  German Patent 679,601, Aug. 9, 1939 (Cl. 26 a-12)  Chem. Abs., vol. 33, 1939, p. 9600.

A mixture of CO and H2 is obtained by heating gaseous or vaporized hydrocarbons with steam in chambers in which the O2 from oxidizing heating gases is removed.  Thus, CH4, C2H6, propane, butane, or mixtures of these are treated with steam in a chamber of sillimanite stone or bauxite with oxidizing heating gas.
