Hydrocarbon gas or gases containing hydrocarbons is mixed at least with 25% by volume of steam.  The mixture is preheated by the hot gases from the slagging generator to approximately 700°, mixed with O2, and blown into the generator.  At least 20% of the slag from the generator is mixed with fresh coke and fed into the generator.
