3219.  SABATIER, P. [Manufacture of Methane or Mixtures of Methane and Hydrogen.]  French Patent 400,656, June 15, 1908.  Chem. Abs., vol. 5, 1911, p. 988.

Water gas is passed over hot reduced Ni.  The composition of the water gas is maintained constant by employing a constant temperature in the furnace, and the gas is subjected, after passing through a solution of Na2CO3, to a 2d decarbonator in a NaOH or KOH lye.  Having sufficient moisture after this treatment, the gas is passed over the Ni without addition of H2O vapor.
