3168.----- [RUHRCHEMIE, A. G.]  [Refining Low-Boiling Hydrocarbon Oils.]  Italian Patent 374,759, June 28, 1939.  Chem. Zentralb., 1940, II, p. 1536.

Low-boiling hydrocarbon oils are treated at about 150°-400° with acid activated bleaching earth to which has been added AlCl3, AnCl2, BCl3F4eCl3, or H3PO4.  There is attained both a removal of the resinous constituents and an increase in the octane number.  The method is very suitable for treating the cracked gasoline obtained as a product of hydrocarbon synthesis.
