3141.----- [RUHRCHEMIE, A. G.]  [Process for Treating the Products of Carbon Monoxide Hydrogenation With Recovery of Fatty Acids.]  German Patent Appl. R 110,168, R 572, filed May 23, 1941 (Cl. IV d-12 o).  TOM Reel 36, bag 3,454, item 36, 3 pp.; Meyer Transl. PC-S-IV, Wax Oxidation, vol. 1, ch. 19, 1948, p. 46.

In treating the products of CO hydrogenation performed at usual or increased pressure and increased temperature with recovery of fatty acids, the reaction products containing olefins are subjected, after possible fractionation, to the action of CO and H2 at increased temperature, 100° and above, and at strongly increased pressure of at least 100 atm. in the presence of catalysts under such conditions that the olefin hydrocarbons have absorbed about 1 mol. of CO and H2.  The mixture obtained is subjected to a mild oxidation, and the fatty acids obtained there by are removed.  The olefin-containing raw material is treated with water gas at about 130° and 150 atm. for 6 hr. or more.
