3138.  --------.  [Process for Regenerating Catalysts for the Hydrogenation of Carbon Monoxide.]  German Patent Appl.---, filed Nov. 5, 1938.  TOM Reel 37, bag 3,451, item 35, 1 p.

In the further development of the process of German Patent Appl. R 97,394, (abs. 3175), for the regeneration of catalysts that have been used for the catalytic conversion of CO-H2 mixtures, the H2 treatment is continued beyond the duration of paraffin removal and with a gradual increase in temperature.  Example:  A catalyst prepared in the usual manner by precipitation consisting of 100 Co :5 ThO : 8 MgO : 200 kieselguhr, and which has been used for 3,500 hr. at temperatures of about 185º - 192º, was 1st treated for 2 1/2 hr. at 200º with a N2-H2 mixture (25 : 75).  The temperature was then raised to 350º within 1/2 hr.  Further H2 treatment was then carried out by 1st heating for 1/2 hr. at 350º, another 1/2 hr. at 400º, and a final 2 hr. at 450º.  The catalyst was again put into operation at 185º, at which temperature is showed its original activity.
