PATENT

3131. ----- [RUHRCHEMIE, A.G.] [Process for Producing Solid and Liquid Hydrocarbons by the Stepwise Catalytic Conversion on Carbon Monoxide and Hydrogen.]  German Patent Appl. R 100,570, R 366, filed Apr. 11, 1944 (Cl. IV d-12 o). FIAT Reel K-22, frames 1,222-1,225.

In operating on Co catalysts the 1st step is under atmospheric pressure and the further steps under increased pressure of 7-10 atm.  The CO:H2 ratio in the synthesis gas mixture is regulated in each step by the addition of H2 or of a CO-H2 mixture, so that in the 1st step the gas undergoing conversion contains more CO than corresponds to a radio of CO:H2=1:2, whereas, in the succeeding steps, the synthesis gas is regulated to a ratio of CO:H2=1:2 by the addition of water gas.  The yield of liquid products is considerably increased by this method.
