3125.----- [RUHRCHEMIE, A. G.]  [Process for Producing Condensation Products.]  German Patent Appl. --, R 693, filed Sept. 15, 1943.  FIAT reel K-30, frames 7,878-7,881; PB 73,587.

Condensation products are produced by reacting formaldehyde and urea in the presence of the conversion products of alphatic hydrocarbons with concentrated HNO3.  Example:  A mixture of 36 gm. paraformaldehyde, 20 gm. urea, 5 gm, EOH, 35 cc. H2O and 35 cc. of nitrocompounds, obtained by the reaction of concentrated HNO3 with the C6 fraction of the gasoline arising from the hydrogenation of CO, was intensively stirred for 48 hr. at 60°.  (German Patent Appl. R 114,103, (abs. 3127) and R 114,246 are cited in connection therewith.)  After cooling the unreacted nitrocompounds were separated and the semisolid condensation product dried.  There results a solid, somewhat brittle, dark mass melting > 220°.  It is insoluble in cold H2O, alcohol, acetone, and the usual organic solvents and slightly soluble in boiling H2O.
