3118.----- [RUHRCHEMIE, A. G.]  [Process for Polymerizing Unsaturated Hydrocarbons.]  German Patent Appl. --, R 424, filed Dec. 13, 1938.  TOM Reel 37, bag 3,451, item 35, 2 pp.

In polymerizing unsaturated gaseous hydrocarbons under the application of pressure and raised temperatures using phosphoric acid catalysts, the latter are constantly washed with suitable gasolines or heavy gasolines, which remain liquid under the given conditions of pressure and temperature.  Such liquids as hydrogenated polymer gasoline or the saturated condensed gasoline b. in the range 140°-200° obtained in the catalytic conversion of CO with H2 are suitable.  The purpose of the washing treatment is to remove the high molecular substances that deposit on the catalyst.  The life of the catalyst is thus considerably lengthened, and the yield of polymer gasoline increased.
