3117.----- [RUHRCHEMIE, A. G.]  [Process for Polymerizing the Oxygenated Products From the Hydrogenation of Carbon Monoxide.]  German Patent Appl. R 117,891, R 697, filed Jan. 12, 1944 (Cl. IV d-23 b).  FIAT Reel K-30, frames 7,859-7,860;PB 73,587; TOM Reel 177, frames 1,502-1,503; TOM Reel 37, bag 3,451, item 36, 2 pp.; Meyer Transl. PC-S-II, Fischer-Tropsch, vol. 1, ch. 10, 1948, p. 26.

In working up the liquid products of CO hydrogenation, the presence of oxygenated products has been found troublesome in the process of polymerization.  It has been found possible to remove this difficulty by passing the products in vapor state at 150°-400° over a catalyst of Al2O3, MgO or alkaline earth oxides and by this means reducing the O content to negligible proportions without affecting in any way the hydrocarbon content.  poymerization can then be carried out in the usual manner.  Addition to German Patent Appl. R 110,308 (abs. 3103).
