3115.----- [RUHRCHEMIE, A. G.]  [Process for the oxidation of Synthetic Paraffin.]  German Patent Appl. R 110,978, R 587, filed Sept. 8, 1941.  TOM Reel 36, bag 3,454, item 20, 5 pp.; Meyer Transl. PC-S-IV, Wax Oxidation, vol. 1, ch. 1, 1948, p. 1, and  chap. 6, p.15.

Synthetic paraffins with more than 16 C atoms, particularly those high-melting hard parffins from the hydrogenation of CO, are treated in the presence of H2SO4 or nitrosyl sulfuric acid with nitrous gases.  Before the oxidation, superoxides that easily evolve O2, such as leadsuperoxide, are added.  By such treatment yields of 94-94.5% of oxidation products are obtained.
