3110.----- [RUHRCHEMIE, A. G.]  [Process for the Catalytic Production of Hydrocarbon Nitrocompounds.]  German Patent Appl. --, R 637, filed Oct. 3, 1942.  TOM Reel 36, bag 3,454, item 36, 5 pp.

In preparing nitrocompounds from concentrated HNO3 and olefins, the wholly or partly vaporized reactants are collectively or individually preheated and then passed over catalysts at temperatures > 60°, preferably  > 150°, and under pressure of about 5 atm.  The amount of charge is as high as possible, at least > 1 part by volume, preferably > 10 parts by volume, of liquid raw materials to each part by volume of catalyst per hr.  The conversion catalyst consists of silica gel, activated bleaching earth or other Al-Mg silicates, calcined Al2O3 bauxite or other Al silicate singly or mutually admixed, if desired with addition of acid-insoluble heavy metal oxides.  Under the described conditions , theoretical yields of 85-90% are obtained.
