In the catalytic cracking hydrocarbons, such as those b. 200°-360° obtained from the hydrogenation of CO, to olefinic low-boiling hydrocarbons, which are easily polymerized to antiknock gasoline, the operation is performed at normal or increased pressure and in the presence of catalysts consisting chiefly of acid-activated bleaching earths impregnated with small amounts, 1-3%, of a mixture of H3BO3-H3PO4 or with H3PO4 alone an if desired activated with Co or a similar salt.
