3092.----- [RUHRCHEMIE, A. G.]  [Process for separating Mixtures of Fatty Acids or Fatty Acid Salts and Neutral Oils.]  German patent Appl. --, R 648, filed Dec. 18, 1942.  FIAT Reel K-30, frames 8,024-8,027; PB 73,587;  TOM Reel 36, bag 3,454, item 36, 4 pp; Meyer Transl. PC-S-IV, Wax Oxidation, vol. 1, ch. 14, 1948, p. 37.

Mixtures consisting of fatty acids or fatty-acid salts and neutral oils are separated by dissolving the fatty acids or fatty-acids salts with H2O or a mixture of H2O and alcohol.  Before, during, or after the H2O treatment, alkaline or acid reacting materials are added to the reaction mixture until a pH concentration of 7 is attained, whereupon neutral oils insoluble under these conditions are separated.  This may take place under normal or slightly increased temperature.  Mineral acids or gaseous CO2 or even fatty acids can be utilized at normal or increased pressure as the acid reacting materials.
