3079.----- [RUHRCHEMIE, A. G.]  [Process for Producing Valuable Oxo Compounds.]  German Patent Appl..  R 106,853, PA62,092, filed Jan. 29, 1940 (Cl. 12 o-5.02).  FIAT Reel B-196, frames 873-875; PB 83,253.

In producing valuable Oxo compounds, the reaction between CO and H2 and olefins is carried out either in the presence of condensing or polymerizing catalysts, or the reaction products obtained thereby are subjected to a polymerizing or condensing treatment or polymerizing catalysts, or the reaction products obtained thereby are subjected to a polymerizing or condensing treatment.  The catalysts consist of metal halogenides such as Al or Zn chlorides or are the usual alkali-containing type used in CO hydrogenation.  The activity of  the catalysts is increased by raising both the temperature and the pressure.  In this manner alcoholic heavy oils are obtained, which are valuable raw materials for the production of detergents and other sulfonated products.  It is further specified that in working up olefinic hydrocarbons mixtures, the heavy oil fraction. 150°-350° and the olefins separtated from the light oil boiling up to about 150° are treated with CO and H2 and the product  is hydrogenated and vacuum distilled.  There are obtained a mixture of high alcohols and ketones and gasoline.  The former is a suitable raw material for working up into detergents and other sulfonated compounds.  This an addition to German Patent Appl. R 103,362 (abs. 2800)
