3070.----- [RUHRCHEMIE, A. G.]  [Process for Producing High-Octane Isoparaffinic Motor Fuels.].  German Patent Appl. R 105,623, R 463, filed July 8, 1939 (Cl. IV d-12 o).  TOM Reel 177, frames 1,587-1,593;  Meyer Transl. PC-S-II, Fischer-Tropsch, vol. 1, ch. 30, 1948, p. 74.

Gasol product from the Fishcher-Tropsch synthesis is passed in 2 separate stages over a boric acid-phosphoric acid catalyst, the 1st stage operating at virtually atmopheric pressure and 200°-400° with virtually only an isomerization effect, and the 2d stage operating at 5-100 kg. per cm.2  at about 200° with an almost entire polymerization effect.  Instead of the above catalyst, the 2d stage may use the H3PO4 or the H2SO4 polymerzation catalyst.  The gas is recycled several times in both stages over the catalyst, and the isooctane produced thereby is separated by condensation and the remaining paraffinic gas is subjected to dehydrogenation.
