3055.----- [RUHRCHEMIE, A. G.]  [Process for Preparing Water-in-oil Emulsions.]  German patent Appl. --, R 698, filed Jan. 8, 1944.  TOM Reel 37, bag 3,451, item 36, 4 pp.; Meyer Transl. PC-S-IV, Wax Oxidation, vol. 2, chap. 26, 1948, p. 26.

H2O-in-oil emulsions of salvelike properties are prepared from high-molecular solid hydrocarbons, together if desired with natural or synthetic waxes, by adding Al soaps to the usual emulsifier consisting wholly or partly of saponified wax acids.  The fatty acids of paraffin oxidation products used in the production of the Al soaps are made from hard paraffin by treating it with  nitrous gases and nitrosylsulfuric acid or with bichromate-H2SO4.  Also emulsions may be prepared by using an emulsifier, which is made by treating an alkali aluminate with high- molecular wax acids.
